In the spirit of Christmas, Round Lake Vineyards & Winery’s Flock Wine Club members donated over $2000 during the second annual Flock Gala and Auction. The Flock Gala took place on November 16 where wine club members purchased live and silent auction items of library wines, event passes and merchandise donated by the winery. The cash from the auction was put to good use to purchase clothing, shoes and toys for children from Northwest Iowa and Southern Minnesota through Head Start and Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc.

Round Lake Vineyards’ CEO Scott Ellenbecker said,

“I knew our Flock members were fantastic people, but this was an eye-opener. They stepped up to raise money for the kids and had a great time doing it. This is a giving time of year and we are so happy to make the season brighter for area kids. I think we all acknowledged the joy of being able to stuff stockings and pile presents under our own trees so during the auction the bidders kept going higher, remarking that it was for a good cause. We are so proud that more families in our area will have plenty of gifts because of this event.”

The Flock is the winery’s wine club that has an entertaining function once a quarter. The benefit to the group is that they are offered discounts on events and winery merchandise. There was no obligation to bid on auction items other than to have fun and raise money for children.

“Our staff enjoyed shopping and stretching those donation dollars to get the best quality basics and fun gifts. It was humbling to see the wish lists for some of the kids included socks and coats as well as toys. We can’t wait to see the good that our Flock does next year,” explained Ellenbecker.
